When was Ketogenic diet invented/started?

While it might surprise you, ketogenic diet was originally not started to lose weight rather it was started as a treatment method to cure Epilepsy, a common neurological disorder. When the conventional drug didn’t cure Epilepsy Ketogenic diet was recommended for them.

Dr. Russell Morse Wilder, at the Mayo Clinic, used ketogenic diet as a trial to treat Epilepsy in 1921 AD. So, it is fair to say Ketogenic diet was invented in 1921 AD.

As a side note, Dr. Russell Morse Wilder was also the person to coin the term Ketogenic diet.
